The primary work of the center includes:

  • Market analysis and enrollment projections
  • Academic planning proposal development, especially budgeting and strategies for resource alignment across the University

Established in the Office of the Provost in fall 2024, Pitt EDGE sets the strategic vision of the University for online and continuing education by:

  • Supporting and guiding the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of online/hybrid education programming through a mix of centralized services and the engagement of existing Pitt teams.
  • Scaling a data-driven enrollment marketing focus to meet the needs of our online/hybrid programs.
  • Collaborating closely with the schools to deliver a cohesive, quality Pitt online/hybrid learning experience.

Pitt EDGE will make its home in the new building at Fifth and Halket, which will give the center space to take online learning to new heights. Features of the multidisciplinary center will include a high-fidelity recording studio to create class material, simulation spaces for training and assessment, a touch-down space for visitors and digital learners, and large classrooms and labs to support on-campus hybrid experiences.
