Leading from Where You Are
Friday, March 4
WATCH: Leading from Where You Are
What does it mean to be a leader? How can you play a leadership role without compromising your other faculty responsibilities and professional goals? Are there leadership skills that anyone can practice and adapt to their own circumstance? Your title or position doesn’t make you a leader; rather how you build relationships, communicate, and ultimately influence others does. No matter your specific role in the University, you can use your voice to shape the future of Pitt and your own. In this session, we’ll talk about opportunities faculty have to build their leadership skills, and strategies for doing so.

How to Navigate the Path from Professor to Provost
Tuesday, December 7, 2021
Noon–1 p.m.
What exactly is a provost? What do provosts do? Why would someone want to become a provost? What does the journey look like from professor to senior-level academic administrator? Ann E. Cudd, Pitt's provost at the time, participated in this engaging conversation to explore the topic. Over the course of her career, Cudd has been a professor of philosophy, a program director, a department chair, a vice provost, a dean, and provost and senior vice chancellor. John Wallace, Vice Provost for Faculty Diversity and Development, facilitated the discussion with Cudd to chat about her experiences, highs, lows, insights and recommendations for faculty and aspiring administrators interested in rising through the ranks of academic leadership.Watch the workshop recording: How to Navigate the Path from Professor to Provost.
