Laura Winters - Assistant Provost for Strategy

November 1, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce that I have appointed Laura Winters to serve as Assistant Provost for Strategy and to join as a member of the Provost’s Cabinet.

Nearly all of you have worked with Laura in one capacity or another and so you know first-hand the outstanding contributions she has made—and continues to make—in the Office of the Provost.

As Assistant Provost for Strategy, Laura will build on past responsibilities by sharpening a focus on advising around policy, procedural and operational issues related to academic affairs and in operationalizing strategic initiatives for the office. She will also serve as a liaison with both strategically and operationally focused colleagues from relevant units within the Chancellor’s Senior Leadership Team.

In addition, Laura will serve as the primary point of contact with respect to stewardship of milestones within the Plan for Pitt across all responsibility areas within the Office of the Provost.

I look forward to continuing to work with her to plan and manage ongoing internal and external strategy meetings (such as relevant Board of Trustees committee meetings, my Cabinet meetings, and our Academic Leadership Team meetings, among others). Laura will serve as the Office of the Provost contact to Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement as well as the Policy Development and Management office. She will represent our office on some University-wide and/or administration-focused committees, while also engaging with academic units to ensure alignment in support of capital planning and physical resources. She will continue to supervise academically oriented executive searches in the Office of the Provost.

Laura holds a Master of Science in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from The Ohio State University.

Please join me in congratulating Laura as she advances to this well-deserved and expanded role.

Regards,

Joe
