Functions

  1. To review, evaluate, and make recommendations to the Provost concerning basis standards, regulations, and policies applicable to all fields of undergraduate study
  2. To review, evaluate, and make recommendations to the Provost concerning proposals for:
    • new or substantially modified majors, degree programs, academic departments or schools
    • termination of majors, degree programs academic departments or schools new certificate programs, areas of concentration, or minors
    • termination of certificate programs, areas of concentration or minors
  3. To keep informed regarding the quality of undergraduate work throughout the University by receiving periodic reports from the appropriate faculty councils and committees on the current status of all undergraduate degree and certificate programs within their respective areas and, when necessary, to conduct its own review of such programs
  4. To be vigilant regarding the appropriate mix of arts and sciences and professional programs being offered by the University as a whole
  5. To recommend two members from the Committee to serve on the Subcommittee for the Evaluation of Academic Programs
