The University’s Intellectual Property Policy (RI 10) covers copyrights, patents, and the distribution of commercial proceeds in the instance that the University has an ownership interest. As a general matter, creators own their scholarly work and course materials, and inventors own their inventions; however, there are exceptions that faculty should make themselves aware of.
