Office of the Provost

Strategic Planning

At Pitt, all strategic planning starts with the mission of the University and our academic values. The Provost’s ambition for academic programs, both professional and liberal arts, is to enable students and faculty to fully realize their potential through continued striving for excellence.  Strategic planning helps us realize that ambition through carefully managing our resources while building on our strengths as a leading public research university.

These strengths include a high-quality student body; faculty who excel in their areas of research and in translating their expertise into top quality graduate programs and superb undergraduate programs; and programs that integrate traditional disciplines with other disciplinary and international perspectives and that take advantage of the breadth of the university and our urban environment.

The University is currently engaged in developing an institution-wide strategic plan. Click here for details.
