Nancy Tannery was appointed Assistant Provost in 2017. As Assistant Provost Nancy is focusing her efforts on supporting strategic initiatives and special projects. Before joining the Provost’s Office she spent almost 20 years in the Health Sciences Library System (HSLS) at Pitt, most recently as the Senior Associate Director.
Nancy is a co-author of many peer reviewed publications on topics such as evidence-based medicine training in medical education, reproducibility of reviews, and the implementation of a clinical information tool in an electronic health record. She has held a number of leadership positions in the Medical Library Association and, in 2011, received its Brodman Award for Academic Medical Librarian of the Year. In 2015, she was one of the few librarians to chair the Literature Selection and Technical Review Committee of the National Library of Medicine. She is a member of the editorial board of the journal Medical Reference Services Quarterly and was an advisory board member for the University at Buffalo Department of Library and Information Studies. From 2004-2008, Nancy was a member of Pitt’s Provost's Advisory Committee on Women's Concerns (PACWC).
Nancy received her BS in medical technology from Pennsylvania State University and an MLS from the University of Pittsburgh.
